Alex Week Update 12

This week i have been focusing on the music and sounds that are in the game, aswell as continueing to work on the story/script.

I have updated the story document post with Nesha's progress and some more lines for her. I had some good feedback from our theory tutor Mark, mainly that i should address the topic of extreme Islam and my critques of it. I have realised that the story script will be something i will be working on in conjunction with the building of the game and not something seperate, so i will continue to work on this at home. I don't feel there is too much more to do but refinment is still needed.

Arran has been recording some voice clips for me, aswell as isolating some song sections, so i should be able to put some sound in the game soon. In the meantime i have put my own test recordings in to help me figure out kismet triggers.

This test revealed to me that you can travel quite a bit of the level through the durtion of just one clip, so overlapping could occur. This got me thinking that as we are not going to be able to make 3 'levels' for may, that we should insted expand the borders of the level we have to allow more room for movement. So i had another look at the map

I am trying to get a across an intended hightmap here aswell as an altered layout.

The 'H' is just to represent a goods landing pad where the player would arrive. They then go up to the main market square, there after there is a gradual hill up into the town. Using this i inted to open out some area's that we previously blocked off. This will be entireley on the fly using the kit over this week.

My focus this next week or two will be to define the mood in terms of the sound, putting togther omni backing tracks made up of ambience and music. aswell as distance, in world sounds directing the player.

My vision for this is going back to the origonal idea. The player has the backing guitar with them omni, up the street perhaps the drum track is coming from a near by workshop. The solo guitar track is constantly ahead of you. So this week i hope to be able to test this out, but again while im at home.

While in class i will be focusing on populating the world.
